The Francisca, so named for its Frankish origins, was used by the Vikings both as a throwing weapon and for close-quarters combat. Its graceful lines are legendary but the upswept point and downturned edge were both capable of penetrating chain mail. Our Francisca features a forged head with a fire-gray or antiqued finish and a swelled-end hardwood shaft for secure head retention. The shaft is also backswept, as were the originals, providing greater sticking capability when thrown.

Our War Axe is based on a 16th century original. It was an aristocratic cavalry weapon, capable of rending mail and piercing the heaviest of helms. Built to match our 7-flanged mace (SH2045), the War Axe has a forged blade, tapered tubular shaft (for balance) and a wire-wrapped, spiral bound grip.

The Flanged Mace was a formidable hand-to-hand combat weapon in Medieval times, capable of smashing even the heaviest plate armour when wielded by a mounted knight. Our 7-flanged mace is typical of those used throughout Europe. Equipped with a leather wrist and saddle thong, it features a wire-wrapped, spiral-bound grip and is built on a steel tube, rather than a solid rod, to provide better balance.
