Knife sharpeners and accessories
This section covers tools for sharpening, edge maintenance, cleaning, preservation and storage. It includes water stones in different grits, guided systems, ceramic and diamond rods, stone holders, oils, waxes, cases and smaller equipment. No sharpener is suitable for every steel, geometry or blade length.
Examples include 800, 1000, 6000 and 8000 grit water stones, Spyderco TriAngle and Warthog systems. Brands in this category include Taidea, Knife Master, Warthog Sharpeners, Spyderco, Suehiro, Picreator, Sharpal and Real Steel. When choosing a specific model, consider its construction and intended use rather than the brand alone.
How to choose
First identify the steel, edge condition, profile and recommended angle. A coarse grit serves a different stage than a finishing stone. A guided system can help maintain an angle but must still suit the blade size and geometry. Care products should match the material and finish.
- blade type, steel, geometry and recommended angle
- grit and stage of the sharpening process
- stone, guide or rod dimensions
- care product compatibility with finish and material
Care and storage
Water stones should be prepared, used and dried according to their individual instructions. Rods and guides must be clean and undamaged. Incorrect sharpening can alter geometry, scratch the finish or shorten edge life.
