Bags and cases
A case must match the width and number of items as well as their length. The group contains long bags for swords and training weapons, shorter cases for sai, tonfa or kama, and larger bags for bogu armour. Materials, closures and carrying handles differ between designs.
Hanwei products include a Tai Chi sword bag and the Katana-Bokken case. Other examples are PVC cases for bokken and tonfa, a nylon shinai case, a black kama case, plus karate and kendo bags. Listed lengths range from cases around 57 cm to designs measuring 132 cm.
Measuring the equipment
Measure the longest item including any projecting fitting or handle. Account for the width and thickness of the complete set, not one piece alone. If a bag is described for two or three items, also check its dividers and how each item is secured.

A clean and dry case
Do not place wet equipment in a closed bag. Sand and hard debris can scratch surfaces, so clean the inside regularly. Inspect seams, zips and straps before carrying a heavier set. Dry the bag according to the requirements of its material.
