Push dagger knives
Push dagger and push knife designs place the handle across the blade axis, but they come in several sizes and materials. The category contains very small utility models, steel blades and lightweight synthetic products. Differences in thickness, profile and sheath matter more than the shared category name.
Cold Steel examples include Mini Pal, Urban Pal, Safe Maker I and II, Urban Edge, Drop Forged Push Knife and Nightshade FGX designs. United Cutlery has Honshu Large and Small Covert Defense Push Daggers. Individual products may use plain or serrated edges and Secure-Ex, Vortec or another stated sheath system.
Handle fit
The transverse grip must suit the user hand and the construction of the specific model. Compare blade length, thickness, number of edges and handle material. The sheath must retain the knife securely and suit the intended method of safe storage.

- blade length and thickness
- steel, synthetic material and edge type
- sheath retention and mounting
Cleaning and inspection
Clean and dry the blade using a method suitable for steel or synthetic material. Inspect the handle for looseness, cracks or sharp damage. Keep the sheath free from debris that could scratch the surface. Store the knife securely and away from accidental access.
