Kukri knives
A kukri is recognised by its forward-curving blade, but the group contains designs with different proportions and stated purposes. There are knives based on Gurkha patterns, heavier modern versions and a machete with a kukri profile. Length, blade thickness, weight and steel vary too much for the category name alone to describe a product.
Museum Replicas models include Genuine Gurkha Regimental, Assam Rifles, Officer’s, Traditional BhojPure and WWI Issue Vintage. Other examples are Condor Heavy Duty Kukri, Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri Plus, United Cutlery USMC and APOC Kukri Machete. Listed steels include 1075, J420, 4034SS and 3V for specific products.
Comparing construction
Start with the purpose stated by the maker. Then compare overall and blade length with weight and thickness. Handle shape and the presence of a sheath affect storage, but the contents of the set must be confirmed for the selected version.

Blade care
After exposure to moisture, clean and dry the blade and match the protective product to its steel and finish. Inspect the handle and sheath regularly. Do not return a dirty or wet knife to its sheath. Store the kukri securely with its edge protected and away from accidental access.
