Japanese weapons
The Japanese weapons section extends beyond katana. It combines katana, wakizashi, tanto, training swords and other forms inspired by traditional arms. Shared styling does not mean shared purpose: collectible and decorative items appear alongside products described for particular types of practice.
Examples include Hanwei Bushido, Shinto, Golden Oriole and Practical models plus Cold Steel Warrior series. Brands in this category include Hanwei, Citadel, Cold Steel, Thaitsuki, Windlass Steelcrafts, United Cutlery and WKC. When choosing a specific model, consider its construction and intended use rather than the brand alone.
How to choose
First choose the correct form and verify its stated function. Compare length, weight, blade and mounting construction, scabbard type and materials. For training, school and instructor requirements are more important than visual similarity to accepted equipment.
- weapon form and expressly stated purpose
- dimensions, weight and construction proportions
- blade, mounting and scabbard materials
- fit with training or display requirements
Care and storage
Steel, lacquered, wooden and textile components require separate care. Training equipment should be checked before every session. A collectible or decorative piece must not be used in practice without an explicit maker statement and instructor approval.
