Fencing weapons

This category combines training weapons and replacement parts used in historical fencing. It includes rapiers, fencing sabres, federschwert models, single-hand swords, hand-and-a-half swords, broadswords and spare blades. Compared with the neighbouring category, the emphasis here falls more clearly on technical practice and work with a specific weapon form rather than on historical appearance alone. Before choosing, it helps to decide whether the need is for a complete piece, a blunt trainer or only a replacement blade for an existing setup.

The category data repeatedly shows 5160 steel, blade thickness at 5 or 5.5 mm and a balance point around 14 or 15 cm. Weight also varies clearly, from about 0.6 kg for lighter pieces to more than 1.3 kg for larger examples. Visible products include the Practical Rapier, Pecoraro and Radaelli Fencing Sabre, Federschwert, Tinker Pearce blunt trainers and synthetic sparring swords from Red Dragon Armoury. That mix shows the category covering both steel trainers and more practical options for regular technical work.

Choosing for a training style

The most useful comparison is blade length, overall length, balance point, weight and handle type taken together. For replacement parts, compatibility with the exact model matters as well because a shared weapon family name does not guarantee a correct fit.

Before practice, inspect blade straightness, the guard, grip scales and any looseness in the assembly. After training, the equipment is best stored in a dry place, while replacement parts should stay labelled and separate from complete weapons. That order makes later fitting easier and reduces the chance of confusion.
